Just ordered my new iphone 6 plus. 3-4 week waiting period already.
So the organizers of the parade caved in to pressure and have allowed an LGBT group to march under their own banner. So this should end the controversy right? Wrong. Read this statement :
New York statewide LGBT rights group, Empire State Pride Agenda, also expressed concerns following news of the decision. Nathan M. Schaefer, executive director at ESPA, described the decision to allow the one group as “disappointing and self-serving,” and that the inclusion of OUT@NBCUniversal comes at “the exclusion of all others.”
All we do by giving in an inch , is show signs of compromise. This parade will soon be just another “Pride” parade. As it is now, all media coverage will be focused on this group anyway.
The fact that the faithful aren’t up in arms with Cardinal Dolan’s decision to remain Grand Marshall is really astounding to me.
It really is tragic knowing that some of our most influential shepherds worry more about the opinion of the world than the souls of the faithful , and even potential faithful. I pray from the bottom of my heart that God sends us courageous men to lead us in these dark , and backward times.
This weekend I attended Mass at a parish (not my regular parish) that made me cringe. As soon as Mass started I knew there was an issue. I’ll abstain from telling every liturgical abuse I witnessed and get to the heart of the matter. During the homily the priest compared the Canaanite woman who approaches Jesus to the women of the LCWR. He said that this woman’s bravery and courage was much like that of the nuns who stand up to the “dopes” at the Vatican who insist that they hold to church teaching. He asked the congregation to pray that these women would not cave to the pressures of a patriarchical hierarchy that insists they hold to church doctrine. After his politically charged homily, the priest then decided to change the words to the Creed. First by using the old translation , then by inserting a few words of his own. After the creed he explained to the church that he feels that the line in the Creed that says “For us men and for our salvation” is a sexist statement that implies Jesus didn’t die for women. So he inserted his own line , ” for us men and women and for our salvation.” During the Our Father he awkwardly walked to the back of the sanctuary and brought the 2 alter boys near the alter to hold his hands. They looked extremely confused when he did this. During the sign of peace he made a light joke asking people not to report him to the pope for changing the words to the Creed. The entire consecration was done using the old translation , all while being littered with his own ridiculous commentary. I’ve never been so offended and appalled at Mass. After speaking to a parishioner I found out that he was a visiting priest, but I’m guessing that nobody minded this tirade because it received several rounds of applause. How is it that this is allowed to go on without recourse, while traditional Catholics are being rounded up and silenced regularly? God help us all.
Why is it that dissent is so tolerated in liberal catholic circles but hammered in traditional? It’s something that irritated me for a long time. It still of course does, but it made me really ponder this. I may be totally off base in my judgement here but, the thought came to me that it’s because we’re faithful. It’s that simple. The church realizes that traditionalists actually believe church teaching, especially the one about No Salvation outside of the church. They know we won’t leave.
In case I forget to say it on Sunday, I just want to say Happy Mothers Day to all of the religious sisters out there who have been mothers to all of us. You are one of the greatest treasures of the Church.
Look what just came in the mail!!! I’m about to start a men’s group with 12 young men who have been poorly catechized.
